Hmmm. So for your first question (how might I respond to a vague request like this): Nowadays I just do the work they could have done in the first place - so I'll respond not just with an affirmation of interest but also with some preferred timeslots.

It's easy enough for me to say you should be totally honest and just say that you're not keen - but it's obviously never that simple. But yeah, you should just be totally honest and say you're not keen obviously 🙃
